For many years already, after the start of democratic transformations in Belarus, we have been witnessing an increased interest of the Jews, who are living in this country, in studying their spiritual and historical roots, in preservation and researching the richest heritage of more than a million-strong Jewish population, who had inhabited this land before the awful times of Holocaust. In the spring of 2002, representatives of several Jewish organizations made a decision to establish the Jewish Heritage Research Group in Belarus. Thus, the efforts of the local Jewish community in studying and keeping the Jewish history in Belarus have been united. The Group comprises professional genealogists, historians, guides, translators and a plenty of volunteers, who are not indifferent to the problems and tasks facing the JHRG.
